Since home power is not as stable as datacentre power, this has been a concern for me. I really do not wish to corrupt my VM's if take a power hit beyond my ups runtime. Agreed that NFS to a ZFS filesystem is -beyond- slow, since VMware issues sync writes. The aspect of hourly filesystem snapshots hadn't crossed my mind as a means of protecting the VMDK's.
